Oti Mabuse Opens Up About Emotional Response to End of Ant and Dec’s Show

Oti Mabuse has shared her thoughts on the emotional impact of the end of a TV show.

The star expressed her feelings about the final episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway after its 20-year run on ITV. While Oti appeared happy earlier in the night during an undercover segment with Olly Murs, she later revealed the darker side of the show’s conclusion.

As a judge on Dancing On Ice and a former professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, Oti took to Instagram to highlight the challenges faced by production crew when a show wraps up and they have to seek new opportunities.

Oti emphasized the significant impact on the livelihoods of production crew when a long-running show like Ant and Dec’s comes to an end. In an emotional Instagram post, the former Strictly star acknowledged the reality faced by the production teams.

In a video posted on Instagram, Oti was seen backstage with Olly Murs during the final Saturday Night Takeaway episode, captioning the clip with a message about the wider impact of a show ending: “It’s always sad to see shows go – it’s not just the people in front of the camera that it affects but a lot of the crew too! TV feeds a lot of families the camera, lights staging, designing, glam – all these people are family and lose something as well. A second family if you chose to call it.”

Reflecting on the personal connection to Ant and Dec’s show, Oti expressed her gratitude for their support when she and husband Marius Lepure launched their dance studio between pandemic lockdowns. She acknowledged the show’s use of their studio during a challenging time for their business.

Adding another caption to the Instagram clip, Oti wrote: “@itvtakeaway was one of the shows that fully supported our dance studio when we started – we opened in-between the two lockdowns and starting a business during such a hard time wasn’t easy and we are so going to miss @antanddec and @mattflint23 creating magic in our space.”

Ant and Dec’s decision to take a break from the entertainment show after many years was met with emotions from the duo as they addressed fans on social media before the show aired. Ant, visibly moved, mentioned: “So rehearsals are underway for the last Saturday Night Takeaway,” checking in with his co-host. Dec shared his emotions, responding, “I’m OK. Getting through it,” while they acknowledged the sadness of the occasion.
