Giovanni Pernice Awaits Decision on Strictly Return

Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice is facing an “agonising” wait to see if he will be back on the BBC show.

The professional dancer is waiting to hear his fate while the show’s boss is on maternity leave. It is unclear if Giovanni will return to the dancefloor after leaving last year’s show early with actress Amanda Abbington. Giovanni’s former partner Amanda cited “medical reasons” for her departure and later disclosed suffering from PTSD.

The BBC has expressed support for Giovanni by promoting his new travel show with Anton du Beke. Giovanni has not confirmed whether he will rejoin the primetime show.

Plans to announce the lineup of professional dancers for the upcoming series have been delayed due to the boss being on maternity leave. An insider shared with Daily Mail that “no decisions would be made without her” and Giovanni must wait for his fate. The BBC has backed Giovanni, but he has yet to finalize his return. A source mentioned: “But he hasn’t put pen to paper yet. Giovanni, of course, wants to return. Why wouldn’t he?”

The BBC stated: “The professional dancers for 2024 will be announced in due course.” Giovanni addressed his partnership with Amanda on the Invite Only podcast, acknowledging his perfectionist nature and care for his partners.

Reportedly, Amanda has connected with Giovanni’s former dance partners Ranvir Singh and Laura Whitmore. Laura confessed to “crying every day” during her Strictly journey. Sources close to the trio mentioned they are dissatisfied with the broadcaster’s handling of the situation.
