Denise Welch joins Piers Morgan to condemn ‘disgusting’ Katie Hopkins’ vile Kate Garraway video

Denise Welch is among the latest celebrities to criticize Katie Hopkins for her offensive remarks about Kate Garraway.

The presenter of “Loose Women,” Denise joined individuals like Piers Morgan in denouncing Hopkins’ recent distasteful actions. Over the weekend, Hopkins, dismissed from LBC in 2017 following inappropriate comments about the Manchester Arena bombing, stirred outrage by impersonating and making light of Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper’s death in a social media video.

Piers Morgan, who co-hosted “Good Morning Britain” with Kate until 2021, condemned Hopkins’ comments as “despicable” on Monday. Denise Welch also expressed her dismay, responding to a Twitter report about Hopkins’ behavior: “Absolutely disgusting!! And this a person that was given her own tv show!!! I got trolled for saying it was a disgrace!!!!”

Derek, a former political lobbyist, was severely affected by Covid after contracting it in March 2020. Despite Kate’s efforts to balance her broadcasting career with caring for him, Derek passed away on January 3 at 56.

Since announcing her husband’s death, Kate Garraway has been commended for her documentaries on ITV, highlighting the challenges faced by long Covid sufferers. In contrast, Hopkins, who was previously banned from Twitter but reinstated by Elon Musk, chose to mock and belittle Derek’s widow.

Despite some support for Hopkins’ offensive video on Twitter, many have reported and criticized it. A Twitter user condemned Hopkins: “So, that vile and sickening witch Katie Hopkins is back, showing up on my timeline, mocking and laughing at Kate Garraway and recently deceased husband Derek. She is so grotesque to post that video and I urge you all to report it. She can’t get away with it.”

In her controversial video, Hopkins, sipping red wine, cruelly mimicked Kate, joking about a TV special and book deal on Derek’s death. Despite the backlash, Hopkins remained unapologetic in her responses on Twitter.

When criticized for exploiting a tragic death, Hopkins retorted: “Literally what Garraway has been doing for two years. Stay chubby. Avoid reading about #ExcessDeaths.” She continued her defiant responses to other critics, dismissing their accusations and stating her disregard for societal norms.

Kate Garraway shared the news of Derek’s death on Instagram on January 5th, thanking medical teams for their efforts and expressing her gratitude for the public’s support: “I’m sad to have to tell you all that my darling husband Derek has passed away. As some of you may know he has been critically ill following a cardiac arrest in early December which, because of the damage inflicted by Covid in March 2020, led to further complications.” She described her presence during Derek’s final moments and promised to share more in the future, ending her message with a heartfelt tribute to Derek.
