Anton Du Beke Breaks Silence on Amanda Abbington’s Unexpected Strictly Exit

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge, Anton Du Beke, recently addressed the surprising departure of Amanda Abbington from the beloved dance show. His remarks came during an interview on ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday, October 25th.

Earlier this week, the BBC confirmed that Amanda had chosen to leave ‘Strictly’, following her absence from the previous Saturday’s episode due to health concerns. Officially addressing her exit, the show stated: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.”

Amanda herself expressed her regret over the situation in an Instagram post: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue.” She extended her gratitude to her colleagues and the production team, adding: “I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you.” Interestingly, Giovanni, her dance partner on the show, was not mentioned in her statement.

The conversation on ‘This Morning’ shifted to Amanda’s abrupt exit while discussing Anton’s new novel, ‘A Paris Affair’. Alison Hammond, the host, shared her disbelief over Amanda’s decision, commenting, “I was so upset.” Anton responded with, “Yeah, that’s terribly sad because she was terrific! Could have made it all the way to the final. I thought she was very, very good.” Alison then mused about the possibility of Amanda returning for another season, to which Anton remarked, “Maybe she can come back.”

Amidst all this, Giovanni faced allegations suggesting he was unaware of Amanda’s decision to quit until a producer informed him. A source speaking to the ‘Daily Star’ said, “Amanda didn’t tell Giovanni she had decided to quit the show. The first he heard was a call from a producer… He’s been complaining about it to friends. He’s frustrated… He is worried the drama will be damaging for his career and make him look bad.” However, these allegations were swiftly denied by Giovanni’s representatives, who dismissed them as “nonsense”.
