Ant and Dec’s announcement shocks Saturday Night Takeaway viewers

Saturday Night Takeaway viewers rushed to react after an announcement by hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly on Saturday.

The presenters disclosed some significant news about their series, following their previous confirmation that the show was going on a break after the current edition. Ant and Dec had revealed that Saturday Night Takeaway was taking a hiatus, with hopes of bringing it back in the future.

However, recent hints suggest the show might not return for a while, leading fans to worry it could be gone for good. On Saturday night, Ant and Dec provided an update about the current series that left many viewers disappointed.

The duo confirmed there were only two episodes remaining in the series, with the show wrapping up in two weeks. Dec remarked on how quickly the episodes had passed, cautioning those who wanted to nominate someone for a Takeaway Getaway that they had just two chances left.

Viewers watching the weekly series were shocked by the news, with some expressing sadness that it was ending so soon. One fan took to X and wrote: “Wow only two shows left.”

Another fan expressed: “I’m not ready for #SaturdayNightTakeaway to finish in 2 weeks,” while a third commented: “Only 2 shows left.” A fourth viewer remarked: “2 shows left and it’s over forever #SaturdayNightTakeaway @antanddec you shouldn’t end!!!” There was also a comment reading: “2 episodes left of #saturdaynighttakeaway.”

Details have emerged about the grand finale, as the series will not return next year. The show will conclude in style after 22 years, with filming taking place across the entirety of TV Centre in London for its “biggest live show ever”, featuring sensational performances. Ant, 48, expressed disbelief, stating “We can’t believe there are only a few shows left and we’re getting closer to the end.”

He went on to say: “This series has been very special to make and we’re looking forward to making the last show a party to end all parties. The SNT production team have been working non-stop to ensure this special, two-hour finale has that SNT magic from start to finish.”

Declan, 48, added: “The finale will be a real celebration of Saturday Night Takeaway over the years. We’re honoured and touched that for 20 series it’s been part of Saturday night TV viewing for so many families across the country. We’re giving it (and us!) a rest for now, but we’ll take away and treasure some very special memories and moments. We will most certainly miss it.”

The Star Guest Announcers for the finale show will be iconic pop group Girls Aloud. The specially extended show will also feature celebrity guests throughout, including Ashley Roberts, S-Club, Scarlett Moffatt, Andi Peters, Kaiser Chiefs, Jordan North, and Tony Hadley.

Additionally, there’s a special montage of SNT’s best moments from the past 20 series, numerous live surprises, and an amazing End of the Show Show! Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway – a two-hour farewell spectacular – will air on April 13 on ITV1, STV, STV Player, and ITVX.
